Tropical Depression Two Might Give Rincon Surf!

Don’t everyone look at once, but we have a tropical depression out in the Atlantic. I said don’t everyone look at once! We don’t want to scare it away. Now I know she ain’t much to look at right now, but there’s a closed circulation in there somewhere. If the current forecast sticks, we should see TD Two form into a Tropical Storm tomorrow. If the west side of the storm can get it’s act together we have a shot at some NW swell late in the forecast period. The current path moves the storm away from us and the steering currents responsible for that should at least put some Easterly swell on the beaches up in Isabela. The southerly surface winds form the storm should keep it glassy up there and at all North facing beaches. I don’t think we’ll have much in Rincon this weekend but a little bump in the knee high range will probably stick around. Early next week into mid-week is when we get a better shot at decent surf depending on what happens over the weekend. I’m keeping close tabs on this one. I want some tropical swell!

Rincon, Puerto Rico Surf Forecast – Sept 18, 2015 https://rinconsurfreport.com/surf-forecast/rincon-puerto-rico-surf-forecast-sept-18-2015/ Fri, 18 Sep 2015 14:58:26 +0000 http://rinconsurfreport.com/?p=4798 Watch the weather for possible surf.

Plenty of weather to watch for possible surf in Rincon.

We have a lot of weather going on but nothing that screams surf just yet. First of all, Tropical Depressions Nine and Ten are meaningless storms that will serve no purpose in life. Forget about them. However, that tropical blob hanging around off the coast of the Florida might be our best bet. If it can develop we’ll get decent surf as long as it can whip out a little more to the east. All of the storms suffer from westerly and southwesterly shear so don’t expect any windfield on his west side. Any swell we get will be from it’s possible movement east along with pressure gradient and a possible front or high pressure that may move the storm. If we get enough weather behind that blob we could see a week’s worth of fun surf. That’s the best case scenario. The worst case scenario (and most likely) is that the blob just gets swept away from a week front that only climbs lattitude and goes to Cananda and we get the skunk. Only time will tell. Any new swell to show up should get here around mid-week next week.

Rincon, Puerto Rico Surf Forecast – August 24, 2015 https://rinconsurfreport.com/surf-forecast/rincon-puerto-rico-surf-forecast-august-24-2015/ Mon, 24 Aug 2015 17:56:49 +0000 http://rinconsurfreport.com/?p=4564 Hurricane Danny Died - No Surf for you!

Hurricane Danny degenerates into a remnant low with no surf.

As of 11am AST Danny, the tiniest hurricane I’ve ever seen completely degenerated into a remnant low. The southeast corner of the island is currently flat and the rest of Puerto Rico is flat as well. As the remnants pass tomorrow, we should get plenty of rain and come light winds. The southeast still might see some small swell tomorrow, but the conditions will most likely be nasty.

Look at the storm behind him for another shot at waves.

The storm system behind Danny is working itself together and might form another storm that could possibly be a wave-maker for Puerto Rico. NOAA’s WaveWatch III seems to like it. It’s consistently had it pegged as a wave maker for the coming weekend. We’ll have see if that pans out.
