More Surf on the way for Rincon, Puerto Rico.

Wow! What a week of big surf we had! This coming week will be considerably calmer but still have plenty of waves for everyone. The start of the week should continue to see some fun chest to head high surf with size dropping each day to surf lesson mania by the end of the work week. Tuesday might offer a unique scenario for Aguadilla and the north side of the island only. If at some point tonight the outside buoys pickup an 8hr run of long period swell from the NE, Tuesday could be very good at the more exposed Aguadilla and Isabela spots. The models aren’t as strong on this scenario as before, but they still call for a fluke batch of long period swell to hit only certain areas. 3-4ft at 18 seconds is what dream sessions are made of so I really hope to get on it if it materializes. Some special barrel spots could be working their magic.

When can we surf more big waves in Rincon?

I don’t know if it’s just the default setting for this time of year but it seems that the end of the forecast period of just about every model calls for a major NW swell 7 to 10 days out. Personally, I want to see what happens with the humongous winter storm that appears to occupy the entire Pacific right now. If that thing sweeps the states or we get something to develop anywhere near that magnitude in the Atlantic, we will have an incredible major swell event. Seasonally it would make sense that within the next two weeks we see another major swell event either way so the future holds nothing but opportunity.

More surf for Rincon, Puerto Rico.

Though nothing on the weather maps jumps out as anything major right now, the weather we have is sufficient to make some smaller scale surf for this week. Look for a bit of a pulse up in the surf tomorrow with some chest high surf at most breaks with bigger sets. After that we’ll have a lot of wind so the resulting swell will be very short period. I expect smaller and mushy conditions are the spots protected enough from the wind to be clean. It should still be surfable though. The weekend has been looking good on the models for the past few runs. Right now they look like the clean-up days after the wind fest. Looking at the next cold front sweeping the states, only a slight shift south in the track of the front and northern jet-stream could mean a major swell event in the long range forecast so that’s what I will be watching for. All in all this past October has been a great month for surfing Puerto Rico and November is looking to be fairly decent as well. I will try to update the forecast more often from here on out.

Rincon Puerto Rico Surf Forecast – Friday, Oct 21, 2016 https://rinconsurfreport.com/surf-forecast/rincon-puerto-rico-surf-forecast-friday-oct-21-2016/ Fri, 21 Oct 2016 20:09:40 +0000 http://rinconsurfreport.com/?p=9924 More surf for Rincon, Puerto Rico.

Once all of that mess gets worked out we’ll have surf again in Rincon.

The cold front is forecast to combine all of the random low pressures out there and push out to sea. High pressure should build in behind it and boom, your standard run of the mill weak coldfront swell. The models are currently calling for a slight NW angle on the surf that will roll into Rincon so the surf should be fun. For the weekend we will stay flat as a lake. Yes, we really can go from double overhead barrels to flat in one day. Granted, the coming cold front swell won’t be as epic as the long period Nicole swell. The surf should still be plenty of fun and offer some overhead surf. The swell should be here by mid-next week.

Rincon, Puerto Rico Surf Forecast – Apr 10, 2016 https://rinconsurfreport.com/surf-forecast/rincon-puerto-rico-surf-forecast-apr-10-2016/ Sun, 10 Apr 2016 22:16:28 +0000 http://rinconsurfreport.com/?p=7571 Small surf for Rincon, Puerto Rico.

Some High Pressure and a weak front = small waves for Rincon.

This past swell turned out to be a lot of fun! In the coming week we look to stay small to flat for most of the time. A steady flow of ENE wind swell will be on tap the entire time, so the North side of the island should be a lot of fun with light winds in the mornings. Because Rincon doesn’t really pick up ENE wind swell that well, we will only see small, mushy longboard waves and surf lesson waves. A lot of action seems to be going on across the states weather-wise so I wouldn’t be surprised if we get another decent swell after this next flat spell.

Rincon, Puerto Rico Surf Forecast – Dec 10, 2015 https://rinconsurfreport.com/surf-forecast/rincon-puerto-rico-surf-forecast-dec-10-2015/ Thu, 10 Dec 2015 13:14:05 +0000 http://rinconsurfreport.com/?p=5832 rincon surf report - get ready to surf!

Finally some surf on the way – get ready!

This weekend should feature a decent swell event with some chest to head high surf and bigger sets on Sunday. This is how I see it playing out. The surf will start off in the waist high range on Saturday and then build into chest to head high by the afternoon and evening. The wind is supposed to be out of the east so the west facing side of Rincon should remain surfable. Sunday will be the best day with chest to head high surf, some 2ft overhead sets, and glassy conditions. Monday will be the fade out day with waist to chest high surf, clean conditions, and become less consistent as the day goes on. Early next week might see weaker leftovers linger around and background swell.

Rincon, Puerto Rico Surf Forecast – Oct 27, 2014 https://rinconsurfreport.com/surf-forecast/rincon-puerto-rico-surf-forecast-oct-27-2014/ Mon, 27 Oct 2014 16:46:48 +0000 http://rinconsurfreport.com/?p=1170 Rincon Surf Forecast

Small to flat surf until the end of the week.

After high pressure builds in behind a stalled front/trough North of Puerto Rico we will get a push up in waves from a fetch that will setup. While we wait for that to happen we will fade out today with small to flat conditions here in Rincon until Thursday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday should have some decent head high waves with glassy conditions. The winds aren’t forecast to be terribly strong, so the clean morning conditions might last a while into the day. A possible tropical wave might increase the East winds on Sunday and give the North side of the island some waves. The push will have way to much East to make it into Rincon, so the we will probably go back to small to flat conditions for early next week.
